How Has Television Influenced Me?

Every night, I look forward to sitting down and watching my television shows. I love my tv shows. The list is long, but each show appeals to me for different reasons. But in the end, the shows are riveting, heart wrenching, action and surprise filled, and full of good humor. The more I watch these shows, the more I realize how fun it would be to be involved in the world of tv and film.
I would love to go into a film program in college, so that I can learn the ins and outs of how tv works. I want to learn to write for tv to start. I've written a script before, but I would like to have more professional training on it. I want to be able to edit film and video. I've never tried it before, but I watch music videos and I love the editing people can do. I would love to be able to manipulate video like that, to create beautiful visual effects. I'd also like to learn how to be a director, and everything that comes with the job. I like being in control of my creations, and I love watching them come to life in my own way.
If it weren't for all my television show watching, I'd never have gotten so engrossed in the world. I love television and film. My favorite shows would have to be Sherlock and Doctor Who, and the visual effects for each one are incredible. It'd be a dream come true to work on either one of the shows. Ideally though, I'd like to create my own tv show from scratch. One that is unique, and different from the rest of the tv shows out there right now.
I think one of those aha! moments started when I was watching the show Castle. On this episode, Detective Beckett was investigating a case tied to her mom and her mom’s death. Something had happened that day, she thought she’d seen a sniper, and it had freaked her out, so in the middle of the night she was having a panic attack. The scene of her having the panic attack was about two minutes long. The way that scene was edited was incredible. It really brought out what Beckett was feeling to the viewers. To me it was purely brilliant. Seeing that scene made me realize I really wanted to learn how to do that.
Since then, when I watch tv shows I’ve started noticing cinematography more, and I’ve began to appreciate it more. I’ve been looking for editing programs and looking up tutorials on how to do some basic editing. I’d like to start with music videos, making my own, and eventually work with tv shows and even movies. Special effects and cinematography are critical to making any film, show or video great.
In addition, writing has always been a passion of mine, and I’d love to write my own show, and watch it evolve over the years into a show people learn to love and admire. We connect with tv shows in a different way than we do other things; it becomes part of our daily life to watch our favorite characters evolve on the screen. We live and breathe the character’s life. We cry, laugh, love and hate with them, we daydream about living in their world. Viewers embrace everything about the shows they love, and that’s something I would love to be a part of.

Someday Somehow

People are discontent with many things in their life. The way this looks, the way that looks, the way this feels, the way that moves. But very very few of those people will actually do anything about it. They'll complain about it the rest of their lives, in hopes of someone paying attention and fixing it for them. They might eventually let it go and learn to deal with it, but that doesn't happen very often.
There are those few people out there in the world who actually will do something about what they're unhappy about. They have the motivation and the drive to get out there and figure out a way to fix what's bugging them. These are the people we need in the world; they are our future. They will design something that can change people's lives, or at least parts of their lives. They are the innovators of tomorrow, the ones with the drive and motivation to do something vast and brilliant.
People do whatever they can to find the negatives or something wrong with something or someone; they can never just be content with what they've got. There just has to be something wrong. But again, the people who do this tend to never do anything about other than just complain.
It's like this: If you want something, go get it. Plain as that. Don't rely on other people to do things for you, only you know exactly how you want them done. So go do it the way you want it done.

It's Been Awhile

Wow, it's been what 8 months? I'm so sorry, I come and go with this blog. But at the end of the day I realize how much I love this blog.
Two words: communication breakdown. What do you think of when you hear those words? I think of how far we've fallen into the world of social media and smart phones. As humans we're losing the ability to communicate face-to-face. It's all about email, text, cell phone calls. What about in person, eye-to-eye contact? I can guarantee that my generation (from about age 10 to 20) cannot communicate face to face that well anymore. We prefer to send emails or text messages or leave voice mails. Smart phones and apps and the latest technology has made it so that we don't need to communicate face-to-face as much, so we don't. The world and the way we communicate is falling apart at the seams, and all we seem to do is make that tear bigger and bigger. We don't try fixing that problem; in fact we enhance it. Accentuate it. We're so engulfed in our technology that we can't even see what kind of problems it's causing for us and our way of life. What's it going to take for someone to notice this problem, and have enough ambition to fix it?

The hell is this heck snot?

The U.S. school system is removing Catcher in the Rye and To Kill a Mockingbird off the required reading list in schools. They are replacing them with more nonfictional books, like manuals. One suggestion (that I remember) is a manual on Invasive Plants. Reading these kinds of books will help children aquire a better writing style that will be more useful for them in the real world, and it is a better education than learning about Shakespeare.
....So learning how to fight off mint in your garden is better than learning life lessons from classic books. That's frieking fantastic.
I'm sorry, but this just peeves me on soo many levels. For starters, those two books both have great life lessons and should not be omitted. I think they're extrememly important.
Second of all, teaching a kid about PLANTS IS NOT GOING TO PREPARE THEM IN LIFE!!!!!
Let me start with a picture:

wow thats blurry

But i found this picture and instantly related to it. Sorry for the F-bomb in there. But I can openly admit I have no idea how to do anything on that list. I have no idea how to pay taxes, how to buy a house or car, what to look for in a purchase, what's good and what's not, I have no clue how to jumpstart a car, I have no idea how to do that stuff. School is supposed to teach us and prepare us for the real world right? Well, how about the school board worries about that instead? You know, instead of worrying about removing two classic books from the cirriculum to improve our writing skills, how about they focus on adding a class to the cirriculum that will help prepare us for the real world? Because those two books teach kids an important thing, and now they are going to be gone. And kids are still not going to know how to do taxes or buy a house or pay a loan. That's more important than teaching us how to deal with plants.

Okay, I think I'm done.

Some Random Thinking

You know what I like? I like stuff that most people would frown upon. I like the weird, whacky, freak-ish, unique things. Like I like weird names. All the characters in the stories I write, at least the main characters, have weird names. Names that I made up. I love the rock and roll kind of clothes. The leggings and boots and ripped and cut clothes, those are awesome. I don’t like makeup, I don’t like fashion. I would rather go to a concert than go to the beach. I like to stand out, and I’m not afraid to take lead. People are scared to be a leader; I’m not. I’ll do it. I can’t talk in front of crowds, but I can lead them if it comes to it. My goal in life is to be a musician; not a doctor, not a therapist, not a lawyer, a musician. I’m working on being proud of it, but I still have a hard time admitting it. I love writing, and I love to sit with my headphones in and write my heart out. My passion is being different.

My opinion is don’t do something in life if you don’t enjoy it. Don’t commit your life to something you don’t want to do. You’re only here once, so make it worth it. I don’t believe in having to do something you don’t want to do your entire life. I understand there will always be things you have to do that you don’t want to, but those should all be minor things that are part of the thing you love to do most. If you want to flip burgers, then do so. If you want to make music, then make music. If your parents want you to be something you don’t want to be, then don’t do it. Its your life and your dreams, follow them. Its all about the experience. Think about it; when you die, you don’t take your possessions, your fame, your reputation with you. You take your memories, your happiness, your love. Life isn’t about obtaining as many things as you can, or having the best reputation in the world. It’s about being who you are and loving every moment of your life. Yes, these things can bring you happiness, but is it really true happiness? Do you feel pure joy and happiness when you play Angry Birds? Are you really happy when people love you because you’re famous? Do you really love that giant house with all those expensive items in them? High school teaches you how to be responsible and determined enough to make your dream to come to life, I believe. If you can survive all the assignments, all the stress, all the expectations, then you can do anything. Nothing in life comes easy; there’s a lot of work and dedication and motivation needed to achieve anything that’s extremely important to you. But humans are beautiful creations; they have such amazing potential. If only we could realize what we were really capable of, then we could thrive. Thrive on our dreams and goals.

Politics

Politics is a very touchy topic to a lot of people. Some people are extremely opinionated and very set in their ways on it. So I think anyone who can give their opinion in a populated place is very brave. I’m not really into the whole political thing. It’s not really my area, and I’d rather not get involved in all of it. But I still have a few of my own opinions.
People make such a huge deal over the fact that they don’t see a change in what the presidents do during their time in office. What they don’t realize is that these changes they are applying are huge, and they take time to actually take effect. With these kinds of things, you’re not going to see a change in four years, maybe even eight. People need more patience with these things.
What they also don’t seem to get is that the presidents are human, too. They will make mistakes. Some big, some small. But they learn from them, just like everyone else. Yes, there is a lot more at stake when they mess up, but that doesn’t mean they can’t, don’t and won’t mess up. It’s just a way of life, and when they realize they mess up, you know they will do everything they can to fix it. We just have to trust them.
Barack Obama had a  lot of weight on his shoulders entering the presidency. Even more than a normal president. He entered office at a bad time in our country’s life; we’re desperate, clinging onto anything we can right now. Obama entered office hoping to change that. Presidency is already a hard job; add on the weight of things that are happening in the country right now, and it’s extremely impossible. Yet he managed to take on the role anyways and he promised to do the best he could with it. It’s kind of like Abraham Lincoln. He got thrown into presidency right at the beginning of the Civil War. Many people think of him as one of the greatest presidents ever, because he was able to drag the country through the tough times. With the right support, Obama can do that, too.
In the end, it’s all the same to me. Our president is our president. Whoever is brave enough to take on the role of leading our country I will support one hundred thousand percent. I mean, they’re our president. They represent our country. They take a lot of BS from citizens, other countries, and other leaders. And they still manage to keep their head high and move on. You have to respect that, no matter how much you dislike them or how oppose them. It’s a tough title.
Ever wonder what it'd be like if there were no politics in the world? There used to not be. We seemed to do okay then, so why do we have to have them now? Yes, we need a leader, but does it have to be such a... harsh race? I've always wondered what the world would be like if we didn;t have some things. Like money. Money is a murderer, yet it makes the world go round, sadly. If a person doesn't have money, they are doomed. What if everything was free? If we wanted something, then we could have it. We'd have to learn to rely solely on our inner person. We'd have to learn how to control ourselves, know our limits. We'd have to act purely on our nature: kindness, caring, trust, emotion. People would never work because they wouldn't need to for money; that's where the kindness comes in. The people who want to work for the better of mankind would work. The good people would come out and be noticed in the world, because the ones who only care about themselves wouldn't lift a finger for anyone but themselves. It would be an interesting time; at first I think people would go crazy; trying to take everything they wanted for themselves. People would quit their jobs. Burglaries would be through the roof. But maybe over time people would settle down and learn how to deal with it the right way. It would be interesting to see what would happen.

The Human Race Again

So, the human race. Again. One of the things I’ve been thinking about lately is how much we try fixing one another’s imperfections. At least medical wise. Like braces; braces are to fix people’s teeth so that they’re straight. But what’s wrong if they’re crooked? I know some things have to be fixed, like my brother with his kidney surgery. It’s important for his health. But some things aren’t. Another one is mental medicine. Medicine for like ADHD, autism, things like that. What those do is they try changing the person to make them as normal as possible. But why can’t they be themselves? They might not be the easiest person to deal with, the friendliest, or the most normal. But everybody’s different. Everybody has their flaws. People born without limbs. Giving them artificial limbs so they can blend in with life and be normal.
I mean to a point, there are things I understand. I think the one that gets to me the most is the mental medicine. Maybe because I dealt with it for a few years. I took medicine for ADHD. And I can tell you for a fact that by being prescribed to it alone made you feel different. But people tried changing me. They gave me this medicine for my mind, that would change it so I could focus better. I understand the reasoning behind it, but its changing the person, making them someone they’re not. Aren’t we told to always be ourselves? Then why do kids with ADHD, autism, things like that, have to be changed so that they’re more “normal”? Maybe I’m looking at it all wrong, but I just think it’s people trying to fix other people’s flaws, when in reality those flaws make that person even more beautiful.
And then there’s the non medical aspects. The biggest one is makeup. I rarely wear makeup; hardly ever. I think it’s just a big way to cover up your flaws. A little lipstick here. Some eyeshadow there. Blush over here. I mean, what’s the point of it.. okay I can understand using little bits of it. Using small amounts to emphasize your strong aspects. But its mostly used to cover up all the mistakes people see on their faces. Who cares? What’s sad is that plenty of people do care. Which drives you to hide your flaws even more.
And then, the one I am most familiar with. Trying to fit in. I don’t think it’s really about fixing imperfections, but it involves change. I’ve never really fit in anywhere in my life; I was always that weird outcast kind of person. Being left out. Getting funny looks. Things like that. So I know what it’s like to try cooping parts of you up for the people around you. Developing a fake image of yourself so that people will like you and accept you. Trust me, I know that like the back of my hand. Only recently have I started fixing that. I realized I would lock up the strongest parts of me, even around my best friends, so they wouldn’t judge me. But you have to realize things change, people change, and choices have to made. I quit locking that part of me up, and I would notice who would embrace those aspects, and who would give me the far-too-familiar funny looks. I learned to attach myself more to the.. three people who were okay with the side of me I didn’t really show, and I put some space between the rest. There are many different sides of me, but as the saying goes “If you can’t handle me at my worst then you don’t deserve me at my best.”
Basically my point is, I think, is to not cover up your flaws. Don’t cover up the sides of you that are different. Embrace them, love them, and show them to the world. I think that is a brilliant strength, being able to do that. Not that many people have the courage to go out there and accept their flaws, take compliments from other people, and show the world who they really are. People are afraid to break away from the pack, to be singled out, to be different. I think deep down everyone has that essence of wanting to be a little different than the other person. A little prettier than them, a little smarter than them, a little braver than them. But how far are they really willing to go do achieve that? You can’t achieve that if you follow the same leader, and do the same things as them. The world is afraid to stand out. But then again, if we all stand out, then won’t we all be fitting in?
